Year 9 Geography Project: Visual Pollution

Tai Wai Analysis

Picture
During the field trip, we interviewed a few people in Tai Wai. Visual pollution is not severe, as its average rate of pollution is only 15.5 which is 1.5 higher than Kowloon Tong. From the information we got from the interviews, the two biggest aspects that cause visual pollution in Tai Wai are the faded posters on walls and rusty gates and signs. Both of them are very common visual problems in most of the districts. More minor problems are old-fashioned and dirty walls of estate buildings, such as Mei Lam Estate. Tai Wai’s visual pollution is actually caused by its old-age and lack of maintenance as Mei Lam Estate was built in 1981, the buildings may look a bit old.
