Year 9 Geography Project: Visual Pollution

Kowloon Tong Analysis

Picture
In Kowloon Tong, we also interviewed a few people and asked them about their impressions of the visual pollution of Kowloon Tong. Visual pollution in Kowloon Tong is not severe at all. In fact, it has the lowest ratings, which shows that there is not much visual pollution. One of the reasons that make Kowloon Tong a clean district is the planning of the land use in the district. Kowloon Tong is plainly a residential area with some commercial areas, such as the shopping mall, supermarket, a few restaurants, a technology centre etc. therefore, it is not crowded with a lot of people and does not have a high population. The place is surrounded by some plants and the buildings are not over 10 floors high, which makes the district look less crowded with tall buildings and helps to create a better look for Kowloon Tong. None of them have paint peeling off the walls, as most of the living estates there are more expensive compare to other districts in Hong Kong and maintenance is frequent. Fences and gates are new and not rusty. Through Kowloon Tong, we understand that high population is one of the causes for visual pollution and there are also a lot of aspects that will affect the visual pollution, such as the land use, age of the district and maintenance etc.
